for everyone

Twentysomething renaissance woman Christina Bartges (a.k.a. Miss BadKiss) is a DJ, designer, dancer, and model rolled into one pretty package.

Habitués of our town's hotspots would most likely have chanced upon a pretty, female DJ dishing out sonic slabs of electronica at M Café on a Friday night. As if her towering figure and tantalizing eyes weren't enough of a draw, her refreshing brand of dance music is equally absorbing, drawing random bystanders from far and wide to take a closer look at the young woman reigning over the turntables.

Popularly known as Miss BadKiss, German-Filipino DJ Christina Bartges (pronounced as “bat-ges,” hence the witty moniker), could probably be considered one of the most multi-hyphenate personalities in Manila. When she's not moonlighting as a DJ, Bartges divides her time as a commercial model (appearing in her fair share of magazine covers and high-wattage advertisements), fashion designer (she is the creative brainchild behind hip, urban label Die Marie), and dancer (back in her hometown, Munich, she was trained as a ballerina since the age of 8).

“You could say I am passionate about pleasure,” shares Bartges. “So I don't necessarily consider all the different kinds of work I do as a job. I never get tired of modeling, music, dancing, and fashion because I get so much pleasure from them.”

She is most excited about her new label Die Marie (which she describes as “super cute and girly but with a bad ass edge”) and her all-female DJ tandem with fellow music meister Lady Trinity. “Modeling and music is a lot of fun, they've gotten my name out and helped me pay the bills,” she says. “But Die Marie is a business I hope to build for my future, and by the looks of it, the future looks bright!”

Catch DJ Christina Bartges every Friday night of October at M Café, and on Oct. 22 at Warehouse 135, where she'll play alongside DJ Lady Trinity during the Rewired Experiment.
